Emergency Department Arrhythmia Consultation

ED consultation:

• Management of new onset  or uncontrolled Atrial Fibrillation (EP would prefer to see these patients to help formulate a follow up and long term treatment plan)
• AV nodal blocks (2nd & 3rd degree)
• AICD/PPM evaluation for patients with existing devices
• SVT (some patients may want ablation sooner rather than later)
• Atrial Flutter/tachycardia 
• EF ≤35% to evaluate for new ICD implant

ED or Inpatient consultation (initiated by ED physician):

• New onset, stable dysrhythmia
• New onset AF
• Syncope of unknown cause or thought to be secondary to arrhythmia

Obs case with EP consultation:

• Paroxysmal AF (await spontaneous conversion)

Outpatient referral:

• Low risk syncope
• Vasovagal syncope
• Palpitations NOS
• Symptomatic PVC or APC
• Resolved SVT
