Soft Tissue Mass ED Pathway
Any patient with a soft tissue mass that is:
Symptomatic or Painless OR
Longstanding OR
Enlarging OR
Suspicious for Sarcoma
Please:
Call Claire Smith, Nurse Navigator for Soft Tissue Oncology 444-1244 during the
day or the Surgical Oncology Attending on call after hours.
Refer patient to Family Medicine if the patient doesn't have a primary doctor
The Soft Tissue Team will make any further referrals to Orthopedics, Plastic Surgery or Other as deemed appropriate
If possible, obtain an MRI with and without contrast of the affected area
Please do not instrument the mass (biopsy, I&D)
Lack of insurance should not delay referral
