Penicillin Skin Testing

Determine that the patient's reported history of allergy is not confirmed.  These cases may include statements such as "My mother told me I had a rash once" or potentially "I'm not sure, my parents just said I'm allergic to it."

To test the patient in the ED To arrange for an outpatient skin test
  1. Call or page Dr. Anthony Szema to assure he will be available

  2. Initiate a pharmacy order for Penicillin G 10,000 units/ml

  3. Page or call Dr. Anthony Szema once the pharmacy order has arrived and the patient is ready for testing.
