I'm hoping I can get some assistance in identifying these plants. If you can help with ID, please contact me at: lkallus@earthlink.net

This camellia begins blooming on Long Island any time between December & March and lasts through mid April. I haven't been able to identify it. It's been reliably hardy here in zone 7a. During deep freezes, the open blooms die back but others open soon to take their place. I'd appreciate any suggested IDs. |
This plant has been coming up in my lawn every year for the past several years. You can see that the zoysia grass is still brown but the plant is green and in full bloom. It hasn't become weedy at all which makes me think that it's desirable. It's now been identified as: Ranunculus ficaria. I understand that it's supposed to become weedy, but given that it hasn't taken over and will be dug over in the next couple years anyway, I'll let it live.
